ottoman schmottoman
Looking for the perfect ottoman?
Well, I have been. The thing is, the dimensions need to be just right for my room. It's a smaller living room, or maybe I just have way too much stuff crammed in already, but anyway, it needs to be approximately than 48" x 20" x 18". I want a turned leg with casters (I think) and either a kilim/tapestry remnant top, or maybe a leather top, or maybe a tufted linen cushion top?
I used to think tufting was too funereal but now...I like it.
Anyone care to chime in?
Below is my not-so-short-list.
For the price, this is the front-runner but the dimensions are just a little too long. Restoration Hardware, Tufted Bench, 54"w x 20"d x 18"h, and $445 as seen in Belgium Lenin.
No turned leg or casters here but I love the clean lines, and simplicity of the leather cushion top. From Hickory Chair, I think this bad boy runs about $1300. Alec Bench, 19"h x 30.5"w x 16"d.
The French Stripe Bench, 48"w x 20"d x 13" h...
and the Kilm Bench, 48.5" w x 20.5" d x 14.5" h,
both from Pottery Barn are not without their charms: $399 and $549 respectively.
I'm not 100% sold on the legs though.
Aesthetically my favorite, one of a kind, from HD Buttercup, 48"w x 20"d x 18"h. Perfect dimensions. Love everything about this except for the price...$1650.00. Yikes.
And since we've gone off the radar price-wise, might as well consider this Cocktail Ottoman from Lee in leather, with brass nail heads. 41"w x 31"d x 17h. Price: TRFMB.
and this amazing little creature...
This is why designing can be difficult. Good things take time to find.

Ballard let's you use your own fabric or theirs.
Some have turned legs and casters.
The prices will range from $250-$700 amongst all of these sites.
I recently ordered one for a client from west elm and she loves it.
